The new “Cittadella dello Sport” is now officially open: a major investment in the territory turnes this project into reality
29 September 2025The “Cittadella dello Sport”, a new state-of-the-art sports venue inaugurated next to the ASTM Group headquarters in Tortona – Italy, is changing the cityscape, opening as a multifunctional hub ready to become a place for meeting, entertainment and aggregation.
The new Cittadella complex was strongly desired and promoted by the Gavio family, the main shareholder of the ASTM Group, which has always been linked to the territory and a supporter of the founding values of sport such as commitment, passion and collaboration. The Cittadella will not only be the stage for Bertram Yacht Derthona, the basketball team playing in the Italian top league of which ASTM is the exclusive sponsor: its 70,000 m² extension, in addition to the 5,000-seat sports and entertainment arena, includes multi-purpose leisure facilities, children’s play areas, large green spaces and food courts.
The project is a successful example of urban regeneration, where sport, nature and recreation come together to offer opportunities for leisure, inclusion and social well-being to different generations, as well as acting as a driver of growth for the local area. In addition, the sports facilities offer a unique opportunity for the men’s and women’s teams and their respective youth academies to continue to excel in the world of national basketball.
The official inauguration, which took place on Sunday 21 September in front of an excited audience surrounded by a magical atmosphere, marked the start of activities at this hub which, thanks to its capacity and technology, will now host local initiatives and events of national scale.
