New 30-year concession in Brazil: ASTM awarded 735 km of “Rota das Gerais” through its subsidiary EcoRodovias

The Group, through its Brazilian subsidiary EcoRodovias, has been awarded the 30-year concession for the “Rota das Gerais” motorway system, a 735 km artery crossing the State of Minas Gerais. With this award, ASTM further consolidates its position as the leading motorway player in the country.

“Rota das Gerais” is a strategic logistics link connecting the major production areas of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro with Brazil’s northeastern states. The new asset interconnects with two concessions already part of EcoRodovias’ motorway network, thus enabling significant operational synergies. Due to its logistics vocation, traffic consists predominantly of heavy vehicles.

The Group’s commitment will translate into a massive structural modernization plan, including 187 km of carriageway doubling, the construction of 160 km of new lanes, and a 17 km bypass. These targeted interventions aim to decongest the network and improve transport fluidity—essential conditions for supporting economic expansion along the entire motorway corridor.

A core pillar of the project concerns technological modernization: the tolling system will be managed entirely through Free Flow technology, allowing for payments without stop or slowing down.
