The Italian A33 Motorway delivered to the region: a long-awaited milestone achieved
23 April 2026As of today, the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway is fully operational with two lanes in each direction, reaching its final configuration and full capacity. This infrastructure represents a strategic road axis for the North-West of Italy, integrating production hubs, logistics centers and renowned Piedmontese food and wine destinations into major national and European commercial networks.
The achievement of this goal is the result of the extensive commitment of ASTM through its subsidiaries, specifically the Asti-Cuneo concessionaire and the construction company Itinera, working in synergy with both central and local government.
Umberto Tosoni, CEO of ASTM, commented: “I want to thank all our professionals for their dedication. Together, we have transformed a historical necessity into an operational reality: today we return an essential artery for its competitiveness to the region, reaffirming ASTM’s role as a partner capable of creating value for the entire national system.”
The project’s success is attributable not only to the public-private partnership but also to the coordinated operational effort led by the Group. The involvement of over 1,200 workers and a dense network of partner companies made it possible to reduce intervention times compared to the original schedules, delivering a long-awaited work to the territory ahead of time.
The full-scale operation of the A33 marks a direct link between the cities of Asti and Cuneo, now connected by a modern 90 km artery that ensures a rapid connection to other main motorway routes. This guarantees smoother and safer traffic flow while simultaneously relieving urban centers of heavy vehicle traffic.
